Version 1.0, 2026-10-11

These are the standard commitments for paid plans, on top of everything in the Free tier. Which services a plan covers (web hosting, monitoring, a dedicated VPS) is listed in your quote, see example quotes.

How this applies to you#

When we agree on a paid plan, I send you a written quote. The quote attaches the version of this page that is current on the quote date, and those commitments become part of our agreement for the period you’ve paid for.

  • Later changes to this page, or to the Terms of Service, don’t reduce what your quote promised unless you agree to it.
  • If the quote and the ToS say different things about these commitments, the quote wins. That includes the ToS wording about hosting being “as-is” and support not being an SLA.
  • Everything else (acceptable use, termination, data handling, governing law) is still covered by the ToS.

Resources#

Your quote says what you get: for example a spot on a shared node, or a VPS of your own.

  • Shared: your site runs on a node that other sites also use. There’s no guaranteed share of CPU, RAM or storage unless the quote states one.
  • Dedicated: the CPU, RAM and storage in your quote are allocated to your project only and aren’t shared with other Knijn Space customers. The underlying VPS comes from my infrastructure provider, and unless your quote says “dedicated CPU cores”, its vCPUs are of the provider’s standard type.

Support#

  • Send support requests to emma@knijn.one.
  • I acknowledge every request from a paid customer within 1 business day.
  • A business day is Monday to Friday, excluding Dutch public holidays, in the Europe/Amsterdam time zone.
  • “Acknowledged” means you get a real reply saying I’ve seen it and what happens next. It isn’t a promise to have it fixed by then, but I’ll work on service-impacting issues as quickly as I reasonably can.

Uptime target#

99.0% per calendar month for each service I host for you, as named in your quote.

  • I measure it with the checks on status.knijn.one. A service counts as down when its check fails.
  • For reference, 99.0% allows roughly 7 hours 18 minutes of downtime in an average month.

These don’t count as downtime:

  • Scheduled maintenance announced at least 48 hours ahead, up to 4 hours per month.
  • Problems caused by you: your code or configuration, using more than your allocated resources, or breaking the ToS.
  • Events outside my reasonable control, such as a wide outage at an infrastructure provider (Cloudflare, Vultr, etc.), internet-wide routing problems, or attacks I couldn’t reasonably have prevented. If I get credit from a provider because of such an outage, I’ll pass on your share.

Service credits#

You prepay, so a missed month is made up in time, not money. If a month falls below the target, you can ask for extra days at the end of your paid period:

Uptime in the monthExtra days
Below 99.0%3 days
Below 98.0%7 days
Below 95.0%15 days
  • Email me within 30 days after the end of the month.
  • Extra days are the remedy for missed uptime, and the most you can get for one month is 15 days.
  • If uptime is below 95% in two months in a row, you can end your plan immediately and get the unused prepaid months back.

Not included#

  • Backups. You’re responsible for your own backups, as in the ToS. Nothing is backed up for you unless the quote lists it.
  • Your application. I run the server. Security and updates of your own code, plugins and content are up to you unless the quote says otherwise.
  • Data after termination. Data is deleted within 7 days of termination, as in the ToS.

Payment and renewal#

  • Paid plans are prepaid for the number of months in your quote. I only accept cash, in person, so we’ll agree a time and place when you accept the quote.
  • I give you a written receipt showing the date, the amount and the period it covers. Service starts once I’ve received payment.
  • The price in your quote is fixed for the period you’ve paid for.
  • Plans don’t renew automatically. I’ll email you at least 14 days before your paid period ends. If you want to continue, you pay for another period. Price changes only apply to periods you haven’t paid for yet, and I’ll tell you at least 14 days before they take effect.
  • You can stop at any time, but unused prepaid months aren’t refunded, except when:
    • uptime fails twice in a row as described above,
    • I end your plan for any reason other than you breaking the ToS, or
    • we agree otherwise.
  • When a refund applies, I pay it back in cash when we next meet, or in another way we agree.

Nothing on this page limits rights you have under mandatory law.
